Welcome to Resourcefully Yours "Show and Tell"concentrating on the exposure of the Resource gallery for the true Treasure Trove that it is.

"Show and Tell" will give you an insight to the large and diverse selection of the fabulous Resources that have been made available to us by our dedicated Resource providers here on devaintART.To do this I have set up a small teams of "Resource Hunters" to go out into gallery to hunt and play with Resources and applications they would not normally use by encouraging them to step out of their "safe/comfort zone" and try something new. Below you will see what my nifty team has come up with and what they had to say about their newly discovered Treasures.

Presenting my fabulous team of "Resource Hunters" for this time.

Simple Layout - dA style by :iconlinebirgitte:

As this my first time for the resource hunters I wanted to make something simple and I really wanted to explore the tutorial section of the resources, finally I went for making a simple CSS. When I thought of that I also decided to make it look as much as dAs user page layout as possible - and so I had my goal: To make a Journal Layout - dA style ;)

I found and read smokin9mirrors's CSS for Beginnerstutorial :thumb40450590: it sounded like a good way to start. I had to read through it a few times to understand it, and even then I thought I was still missing a basic knowledge of what I was supposed to do.

I then found BarryGreenland's :thumb63994520: The Easy To Understand Guide To The Deviantart Css Journal - Part One, The Very Basics - this was absolutely great! And after I read through that a few times I read the first one again and understood pretty much everything.

Now I had the knowledge and I fooled around a lot to get to know everything - changing colors and the font and trying to make certain parts hidden. I had a lot of fun, but then I started to actually making it look like deviantArts layout and I couldn't figure out how they made the text appear in the top-border.

After finding Talei's tutorial TUT: Using CSS headers by Talei Using CSS headers in your journal - complete tutorial I found out that it wasn't a border but in fact just a filled box. I was quite surprised to find that the tutorial was very easy to follow, and my layout was slowly starting to come together.

I also used Talei's TUT: Using CSS Scroll Boxes by Talei Using CSS Scroll Boxes in your journal - Complete Tutorial which was just as easy as the first.

After that I just had to adjust small things like the color of links and add a header and then I was done! :D

Button Fail by :icontalei:

I did make some leg warmers but I have no batteries in my camera or spares to take a photo. -_- Even though they sucked anyways. XD So I decided, ahhh~ I've got to do something else, but I really wasn't sure what. Then I thought....lets see how somebody else does something. Try and follow a tutorial and throw my methods out of the window. Although I find following tutorials difficult as it is, its even harder right now as I've come down with the flu and just sitting up is hard. D:

So I tried to follow Glossy Button Tutorial by nobstutorials Glossy Button Tutorial by nobstutorials I think his is brighter and way better though but I tried! I think next time, I'll make a higher contrasting grad or something. I did learn some new techniques, its certainly a different method to the way I usually make my buttons.

I came upon the idea of trying to create an image with the use of a minimal of Resources.Texart I have always been fond of so my concept was to create an image that would reflect our gallery, but in my Znowy style. As you can see both Stock and Resources are joined as one, and the globe is a representation of our galleries content.A globe as I feel we are both universal as contributors to the gallery and in what we provide to the Community.

The base of my background are two color fill layers,a deep maroon and petrol blue, together with a  light purply/mauve radial gradient.
These were combined with Paper textures by hibbary paper textures by hibbary which are a fabulous pack of traditionally dyed paper textures and one of my own.

After watching Interwoven Text Tutorial by mauricioestrella Interwoven Text Tutorial by mauricioestrella was not only easy  easy to follow but I also picked up several tips that were not known to me previously. One of which was to convert your type into shapes, which would later come in handy for warping and transforming text.Although the thought of interweaving my text came to mind,I decided against it as there was to be a lot of text, though the tutorial was an inspiration.

Next on the list was to hunt down a  font, and I can tell you it was hard as we have so many, and I am know for getting distracted with all and sundry.
But eventually I fell upon these littles gems Often tf - beta version POSTER by arpad Often tf - beta version POSTER by arpad Creating the Stocks and Resources logo was pretty simple but they looked quite plain to me ,so decided make it somewhat ornamental.

This is where Brush pack - Ornaments by iMouritsa Brush pack - Ornaments by iMouritsa came in,so attached them to the letters unifying the type.

Next up was my biggest dilemma of all, which was how do I incorporate everything all our gallery has to offer without making the image look overloaded with type.My first attempts were to have them transformed in various positions even though they looked nice I still did not feel they worked with the background and what I had already.I tried with continuous lines of them shooting out all over the place, only to find I could not get an even fit :bucktooth: Lastly (after typing them out several times without the aid of chocci and including socks (can you find the socks) I typed them into a neat block. Then it dawned on me. The bottom right corner of the image looked worldly to me and came up the idea of transforming the type in a roundish manner by creating a circular shape then placing the text over it and  by using the transform tool warp it as evenly as I could. And that was it,just a few tweaks here and there and it was finished.

Now I know it is not perfect and can see now many things I can improve on since saving the file, and have had one million and one other ideas of "should and could  haves".
This was challenge fed by the inspiration of the fantastic gallery I represent together with my ebil partners in crime  UnicornReality,LawrenceDeDark and the community that submits and utilizes it.

I would like to thank my fabulous team of Resource Hunters for playing along with "Show and Tell" for this time, and of course not forgetting the Resource providers that never cease to amaze us with their generosity for providing us with the best Resources anyone could ask for.
